Just Organized Chaos

Some days around here are just organized chaos… and if you know me, you know I kind of love it that way. I’ve learned that somewhere in the middle of that chaos, something special usually happens.

Part of today’s chaos was having the folks from North Coast Calvary Chapel join us as we packed a whole bunch of sustenance bags, made possible by the Lucky Duck Foundation. It went really well. And I don’t just mean because we packed a lot of bags. The room just felt good. People were laughing, having fun, encouraging one another, and everybody was motivated. You could feel it.

But here’s the part that really got me.

There were four volunteers in that room that nobody could have picked out. Nobody would’ve known who they were or where they’d come from. Four people who had once been homeless… and today they’re housed, standing shoulder to shoulder with everyone else, giving back to their community.

Those were my volunteers.

Those were today’s leaders.

That’s what redemption looks like. God redeems. God restores. God takes the people the world so often overlooks and writes a completely different story.

And somehow, I think He’s just getting started.
